Didn’t we all wish that Microsoft provided a free Project Viewer! Although Microsoft Project does provide a way to export your data in excel/html. Doing so, by maintaining the formatting (as one would see it in Project) is not a available option. This becomes a problem if your organization cannot make available Microsoft Project to your team. Without formatting if there are many indented task the document looses its readability.

One of the best options I have found is to use the website Export Microsoft Project Data to Excel With Formatting. Its a neat way to get your data in Excel. Just to mention I was using Microsoft Project 2003.

I have tried other options mentioned in the article Getting Data From Microsoft Project to Excel including the use of macro but I thought that the above option is the quickest, just hope that the creator keeps the use free.
